    Hi, Nicole! Our entire unit measures:
    Width: 50"
    Depth: 17 1/4"
    Height: 72 3/4"

    According to Ikea the individual units measured:
    Width: 17 3/8"
    Depth: 15 3/8'
    Height: 72 7/8"
    Ours varied slightly from Ikea's measurements.

      if the width and the depth are different, there must be a gap? How did you manage that?

    It looks like you applied chalkboard paint directly to the Expedit without using a primer first. Is that right? Looking to do something similar on an Ikea table top.

    That's correct ~ no primer! Just a couple solid coats of the chalkboard spray paint. We've had this a little over a year and all is still good ~ although a primer wouldn't be a bad idea. Thanks for reading Sukel!

    I love this setup and am trying to replicate it, the style at least, in our "landing strip" area where everyone drops stuff on the way in the house. Can you (or anyone else who's done this) tell me how you attached the units to each other and how you accomodated the fact that they're 17 3/8 wide but only 15 3/8 deep when they're turned? Trying to figure this out! Thank you so much!

    Hi, Sorry for our very delayed response! We did not use a stencil, but painters tape. An old cd was taped down to the corners to give the rounded edges.

    Cara ~ so glad you like this idea! You are correct about the dimensions and we strongly advise attaching the units to each other + the wall ~ that being said we still have not done that!! We have the two left units pulled out further from the wall so they line up with the chalkboard unit. I hope that makes sense, if not, let us know + I'll have Brian whip up a better diagram.

    Love your shelves! I am currently trying to do something similiar but was challenged with the quarter round on the baseboard keeping the expedit from being flush with the wall. How did you wall mount yours? I noticed from the picture you have quarter round as well. :) Would appreciate any help you can give as I am not very handy.

    Hi, I am interested in the office containers that hold magazines, etc. They are the gray or blue-gray ones with the holes in them for easier pulling off the shelf??? Hope this makes sense.

    BTW, this is awesome!!
