Fiestaware

  With Cinco De Mayo this weekend, what better vintage find to spotlight ~ Fiestaware!  We've collected ours for quite some time ~ staying with a green + blue palette.  Fiestaware debuted in the 1930's by Homer Laughlin with production well into the early 70's.  It has since been reintroduced, but we have to say we still prefer the old stuff!  

We tend to use our Fiestaware during the Summer months for outdoor dining and as a colorful kitchen display.  Check below for more inventive uses:

 Angi, from Love Junkie Candle Company, creates soy candles in antique tea cups ~ we love that she's put those small Fiesta cups to good use!  

While at the Inman Park Festival we came across this fun lamp made with a White Fiesta Pitcher.  Created by Dina from PaulaGrace, be sure to check out her Etsy Shop for other creative lamps!

And of course we LOVE these heart pendants created by DVHdesigns.  While we don't recommend purposely breaking a vintage plate (gasp! that would be terrible) ~ this is a great way to take chipped or broken pieces and turn them into a fun piece of jewelry!

We also liked this Fiestaware Pendant made by The Broken Plate Pendant Company.  They'll take your broken china and turn them into jewelry for you!

Backyard Vegetable Garden

 Last year we built our Railroad Tie Garden Bed + and planted a vegetable garden shown here.  After a bit of overcrowding in last year's attempt, we decided to go simpler this year and only planted our favorites.

Last year our cucumbers did surprisingly amazing, hopefully we'll have the same luck this time around!  We planted a watermelon for the first time along with Pimento Peppers (which I'm most excited about!).

Planting didn't take very long, we made sure to add some additional top soil + Miracle Grow.  Rawley seemed quite pleased with the outcome!

Inman Park Festival

 It's been a couple years since we've hit up the Inman Park Festival.  

Brian offered to play porter for the day ~ give the guy a beer and he'll be up for just about anything!  We had a great time walking the grounds, listening to live music + people watching.  And of course checking out the markets!  

Here's a few that caught our eye: 

 So She Sews' {Recycled + Handmade items} was the first booth we stopped by.  Brooke creates everything from State Art to Skirts + Totes.  Be sure to check out her site + her etsy shop for some eco-friendly gift options.  

I'm typically not too keen on most bird houses, but I LOVED the quirky cute designs that Roadside Recycler's create.  Especially since they're entirely made from old house parts!

While at the Park we were introduced to an Interior Design Firm local to Atlanta.  Stephanie from Balance Design was a pleasure to chat with and we even picked up some colorful pillows from her booth {photo: left}.

Stephanie's booth also displayed work from Scott Dilley, a Georgian Carpenter + Artist.  We loved his deer head wall art!  You can find his work here.

We couldn't leave without picking something up for Rawley!  

Big Daddy Biscuits was perfect!  

We must have had Bacon on our mind as we got a kick out of 

Felted Heart's Bacon Bib!

The girls from Bee Good Design had an uber-cute display!  We loved their positive art, felted totes + home decor ~ all great gift options for this upcoming Mother's Day!!  To place your order contact them here!

Reader's Digest Condensed Books

I'm sure most of you have stumbled upon the old Reader's Digest books at some point.  We love the punchy colors and retro designs that cover these.  Most of ours have been purchased for $1-$2 from our local Goodwill + Thrift Stores.  We plan to use ours around the house + for seasonal decor.
