Happy Fall Y'all!

Heirloom Pumpkin

{Heirloom Pumpkins}
Brenda and I found these at a cute farm stand while in Lake Lure.
I love love the vintage color and fragrant aroma of these Heirloom pumpkins. This variety is especially great for using in recipes ~ pumpkin pie, pumpkin soup and even pumpkin bread.
Let the fall baking begin!

Go Fish

Bald Mountain Lake

{Bald Mountain Lake Weekend}
This past weekend we celebrated Pat's 50th in Lake Lure, NC. Even though the fish weren't biting it was the best non-fish fishing trip we've ever had ~ Happy Birthday Pat!

Primitive Pie Safe

Primitive Pie Safe
{Punched Tin Pie Safe}
While driving back into Georgia this past weekend we came across Lavonia Antique Market. Believed to have been brought to America by the Germans, pie safes were used to store baked goods including pies, breads and cakes. I got really excited when we came across this one ~ with plenty of character it will be perfect in our guest bedroom!

Guest Bedroom ~ Part V

{Attic Stair Trim}
Brian's just about finished with the trim in the guest bedroom. For the molding around the attic stairs he used 1x3s and finished it with shoe molding. That miter saw is coming in handy!

Guest Bedroom ~ Part IV

{Trim It Up}
Brian's been working hard to get the interior trim finished. For the baseboards we used a standard base finished with a shoe, and for the door trim we kept it simple using a 1x. For our faux crown molding we got a little creative. The idea of crown molding seemed a bit intimidating for our first trim job ~ so we decided to use a piece of baseboard, flip it upside down and finish the top with a piece of cap molding. If you look closely at the outside corner, you'll notice ours stands perpendicular rather than at a 45degree angle. But what a beautiful 90 degree angle it is ~ way to go Brian!
